HOLD FAST – Video

So awhile ago we filmed a video for ‘Hold Fast’ and we’ve been sending back and forth with our editor so we could get it just how we wanted it, and this is what we have got! It took a while to get there but hopefully it’s worth it.

Thanks to all our mates who helped us out being extras and running around making fools of themselves in capes.

Big thanks to Dougal Macqueen who filmed, directed and editted the video, check out all his other work here: https://vimeo.com/dmacqueen. Also thanks to Gabriel Salaman and his parents for letting us use there property for the location.

Hope you enjoy the video!

Rockness!

It was chaos! After netsounds unsigned got us on this festival we could stop thinking about it. Our first festival.

So standard festival stuff, aim to stay a steady drunk throughout the festival… Failed.

Friday was set up camp and met up with the people we’d be staying with. Great fun, obviously got drunk early enough to go see the bands you didn’t know but still have a good time. However I only managed to go see Noah & the Whale and Mumford & Sons. But i didn’t really mind I only wanted to see Bastille, Little Comets and Biffy that weekend really, so that was the mission. But on Friday we did conquer Liams fear of ferris wheels, which is a weird phobia.

Saturday was the day we were playing we got a small interview by Marion Scott from MFR backstage before we were playing which will be broadcast this Sunday on MFR radio at some point.

After that we went to hand out all the flyers we had printed which all had the wrong time as our time we were playing kept getting changed, so we had 1000 flyers with the wrong time on them, but they still did the trick.

Then it was our time to play, can say for myself it was the best gig i’ve ever played and probably the best day of my life. The crowd were just incredible and couldn’t have asked for a better one to share that moment with. Thanks to everyone there, they made that a special day and a milestone for Red Kites.

After that we had a interview with Smoke TV which we will post when we find it and a very funny interview with Netsounds Unsigned which you can listen to here.

We then got to a nice state of Equilibrium and went and saw Bastille, I managed to go backstage and meet them after as well although I don’t think they knew what I was talking about.

Finally Sunday arrived, the day i’d been looking forward to the entire weekend. Saw Little Comets in the morning and after them left a big gap to do something, so obviously we went and got back on the drinking. However this time I overcooked it… and passed out… and missed Biffy Clyro, the one band I was most looking forward to. I can only blame myself, I heard they were amazing, which doesn’t help but nothing i can really do.

Big thanks to everyone at Rockness, Netsounds Unsigned, Everyone we camped with, the stage manager for us, Parrott family. Too many thanks to give.

What a weekend, one which will stay with us for the rest of our life.

Red Kites – Peace of Mind (by NutProductionsLike)

So if you’ve been keeping posted with our tumblr you will have noticed a few pictures of us up in Scotland yet again! We went up to play the GoNorth showcase and the mighty Rockness Festival.

We were busy with things to do for GoNorth, we had a Rock Hopper video shot for us in that little tin can studio which will be coming out shortly, we will make sure to post it around our network.

After that we did a video with the guys at Nut Production (http://www.facebook.com/nutproductionslike). Great guys to work with, hopefully we will do some more stuff with them in the future, they shot an awesome acoustic video for ‘Peace of Mind’ which is circling youtube. If you’ve yet to see it you can view it above. Can’t express enough how sound these guys are, check out there other stuff and support them, they’re top lads.

The next day was the day of the gig, before we hit Ironworks in the evening we managed to cram in some more things to do. We played an intimate acoustic gig in a shop called imperial music. Lovely small shop in Victorian market in Inverness.

After that gig, as usual we were tight for time and running late. Headed to BBC Scotland in Inverness to play ‘Peace of Mind’ for Radio GoNorth, had a small interview with them as well. Unfortunately won’t be able to listen to it anywhere as it was streamed live and not recorded.

Finally we got to the gig, all pumped up and excited for it. Before us there were a great band called ‘The Winter Tradition’ who were incredible. (http://www.facebook.com/thewintertradition)

We had a great gig, as usual there was an awesome crowd there supporting us, as always we always have the best gigs in the Ironworks. So thanks to everyone that came down to see us, we had a blast!

After us there were two more bands you all need to check out, both incredible.

French Wives (http://www.facebook.com/frenchwives)

Iain McLaughlin & The Outsiders (http://www.facebook.com/wearealloutsiders)

So a big thanks to GoNorth, Inverness Gigs, Netsounds Unsigned, The Ironworks, Imperial Music, Rock Hopper and Nut Productions for all the events keeping us busy over the showcase period.

Next stop was Rockness…
